Gala: CAD 250 (USD 255) per person, with a 10 percent discount for tables of 8 or 10 people
Conference: CAD 125 (USD 127), with a discounted rate of CAD 100 (USD 102) for students and all registrations received by September 1
Summary of Event:
The 2011 Toronto International Microfinance Summit, formerly known as the Toronto Microfinance Conference & Gala, focuses on domestic and international applications of microfinance. The summit is comprised of two events: the fundraising gala and the “the micro way” conference. The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum in Toronto that will create further interest in and knowledge of the practices and theories of microfinance worldwide and, with profits from the gala, to support “projects to relieve poverty globally through the provision of microcredit and other financial services to the poor”.
Background on Organizer:
Inspired by the Rotarian Action Group for Microcredit and the Rotary District 7070 Microfinance Committee, this event is run entirely by volunteers. The event was first held in 2009 with a fundraising Gala added in 2010, at which time the number of attendees grew to 400. Canada’s MasterCard Foundation is participating by financing the attendance of students.
