MICROFINANCE EVENT: Microfinance and Microenterprise Promoter SEEP Network to Host 2007 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

2007 SEEP NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE

OCTOBER 22 – 26, 2007, WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network will host its 2007 Annual Conference, themed, “Powering Connections” in Washington, D.C. SEEP’s mission is to connect microfinance and microenterprise practitioners via a global learning network. The 2007 conference will allow participants opportunities to learn, to share, and to engage each other through training sessions, workshops and networking. Expected conference participants will include practitioners, donors, investors and other key stakeholders in microfinance and microenterprise industry.

Pre-conference events will occur by invitation only on October 22, October 23 and October 24. Primary conference workshops and plenary activities will begin on Thursday, October 25. Workshops will be geared toward “powering connections” in the areas of poverty, finance, health, and the value chain.

Some topics include:

  • Cross-sectoral/Collaborative Partnerships
  • Powering Connections between microfinance institutions and capital markets
  • Creating New Connections with Technology
  • Effectively Integrating Market, Finance and Technology in Value Chains for better results in rural development

Plenary sessions will be led by industry experts. Including Robert Christen, Director of Financial Services for the Poor, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Premal Shah, President of Kiva, Erin Gorman, CEO of Divine Chocolate , and Jacqueline DeCarlo, Program Advisor, CRS Fair Trade.

The fee to register for the primary conference is USD 225/day for SEEP network members and USD 300/day for non-members.
