ASIA/PACIFIC REGION MICROCREDIT SUMMIT 2008
MARCH 4 – 6, 2008 – ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) will host the Asia/Pacific Region Microcredit Summit 2008 in partnership with Microcredit Summit Campaign (MSC) from March 4 – 6, 2008 in Islamabad.

The MSC was established at the time of the first Microcredit Summit held in 1997. The second phase of the initial nine-year campaign was launched at the Global Microcredit Summit last year with revised goals for 2006 through 2015. The core themes of the microcredit summit are reaching the poorest, empowering women, building financially self-sufficient institutions and ensuring a positive and measurable impact on the lives of the poor and their families. The MSC expects over 1000 microcredit practitioners, advocates, donor agencies, heads of international financial institutions, non-governmental organizations and others involved with microcredit from around the globe. The aim is to share best practices from the field to stimulate the exchange of knowledge and facilitate work towards reaching the goals of poverty alleviation.

Registration is available online for USD 150 (USD 225 for those from outside the region), and scholarships are available. Optional site visits to be held on March 3 will incur an additional fee. More information can be sought at info@microcreditsummit.org or regmcs@ppaf.org.pk or by telephone at +1 202 637 9600 or +92 51 2609647.
