MICROCAPITAL EVENT: 2008 World Credit Union Conference To Be Held In Hong Kong, July 13-16, 2008

 The 2008 World Credit Union Conference will be held in Hong Kong July 13-16.  The conference is co-hosted by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), Credit Union League of Hong Kong (CULHK) and the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU). Credit leaders from more than 50 countries will partake in a four-day program focusing on current industry issues.

The following discussion topics pertaining to the microfinance sector will also be included: The Effect Rural Cooperatives and Credit Unions Can Have on China’s Future, Mobile Banking, Addressing the Needs of Women in Low-Income Communities, and Understanding Business and Technological trends.

Participating keynote speakers include: Anna K. Tibaijuka, the Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Xiaoling Wu, Vice Chairman, Finance and Economic Committee of the National People’s Congress, Paul Sarbanes, Former US Senator and co-author of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Pete Crear, President and CEO of WOCCU, and Melvin Edwards, WOCCU Chair.

Cultural tours of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Macau will be integrated into the conference. A pre-conference tour of Beijing and a post-conference tour of Bangkok will also be offered to the international participants.

The conference fee is USD 995 for members or affiliate members and USD 1,195 for non-members on or before May 9, 2008. After May 9, 2008, the fee will be increased to USD 1,195 for members or affiliate members and USD 1,395 for non-members. Special discounts are available for participants under 35 years of age, regulators and members from developing movements. Group discounts are also available.
