Cost: The fee to attend is USD 895 with a discount of USD 100 offered until July 14. A rate of USD 495 is offered to participants traveling from developing countries and for all attendees under age 30.
Summary of Event: The theme of this year’s event is “The Future of Work: Youth Economic Opportunity in a Changing World,” and it will address issues such as the diminishing role of traditional labor and how that impacts young people in developing countries. Participants will attend sessions on topics including: (1) building a foundation of skills that supports long-term success; (2) preparing youth to transition into the workforce; (3) earning livelihoods through self-employment; (4) how the future for youth will be shaped by factors such as gender and armed conflict. The organizers of the summit are accepting proposals from prospective presenters until March 29, 2017.
Background on Organizers: The event is organized by Making Cents International, a US-based company focused on building youth microenterprises and increasing youth employment. Making Cents partners with institutions in 55 countries as of 2017, aiming to provide them with opportunities to share information on programs, methodologies, strategies and tools; build partnerships; gain new technical capacity; and help build the youth enterprise, employment and livelihoods development field.
