MICROFINANCE EVENT: NpM Seminar on Geodata for Inclusive Finance; June 24, 2019; Nairobi, Kenya

This seminar will focus on “the use of geospatial data for smallholder finance and the topic of data privacy.” It is part of a series of events organized by NpM, formerly known as the Netherlands Platform for Microfinance, exploring its program titled Geodata for Inclusive Finance and Food. Geodata is information associated with a particular geographical region, as is often collected via satellite.

The agenda includes presentations from the three winners of the NpM Innovator’s Challenge, Argi-wallet, Apollo Agriculture and VanderSat, on their usage of geodata to support financial services for Kenyan farmers. This seminar immediately precedes and is co-located with the Inclusive Digital Future event hosted by two US-based efforts, the Smart Campaign and the Social Performance Task Force (SPTF).

Background on Organizer: Established in 2003, NpM brings together 13 Dutch development organizations, social investors and commercial banks that work in the inclusive finance sector. These members have approximately EUR 4 billion (USD 4.5 billion) deployed in 97 countries.
