The aim of this event is to increase awareness of Islamic finance as an option to help people improve their lives, particularly those with low incomes. Instead of charging conventional interest, Islamic lenders employ concepts such as the sharing of profit and loss.
The agenda will focus on the challenges and opportunities of Islamic microfinance, including how it can mitigate the difficulties faced by refugees, managing deposits, managing risk, financial technology (fintech) and poverty alleviation.
Background on Organizer(s): The AlHuda Center of Islamic Banking and Economics (CIBE) was founded in 2005 with the aim of advocating for the growth and improvement of Islamic banking services globally. Based in UAE, the NGO specializes in research, training and consulting in the Islamic microfinance industry. This includes providing technical assistance regarding Shariah law, organizing distance-learning programs and publishing a monthly newsletter entitled Islamic Banking and Finance News.
Cost: The cost of attending the event is USD 1,490 for international participants and PKR 54,500 (USD 350) for Pakistani participants. Separate pricing is available to attend either the first day of the event or the last two days.
