Summary of Event:
The Sixth International Microinsurance Conference to gather over 400 experts from around the world will exchange experiences and discuss the challenges of microinsurance. The conference is designed to be an interactive event that focuses on sharing academic and practical experience and innovations in the area of microinsurance.

Background on Organizer(s):
Munich Re Foundation’s primary interest is to play an active part in finding innovative solutions in the context of international population development and globalisation. The foundation’s role is to concentrate specifically on the interaction between population development and water as a resource and potential risk factor.
Microinsurance Network is a member-based network of donor organisations, multilateral agencies, insurance providers, policymakers and academics. It provides a platform for information sharing and stakeholder coordination with the aim to promote the development of insurance products for low-income persons.

Schedule:
Formal schedule will be determined. The conference will have plenary panel discussions on various topics addressing an interdisciplinary audience. Parallel working group sessions will deal in depth with different subtopics. Interactive sessions of approximately 90 minutes are the key part of the conference, encouraging discussion of work in progress and facilitating dialogue in small groups on emerging issues.

Early registration begins July 1, 2010. Regular registration begins October 31, 2010.

Representatives from international organisations, NGOs, development-aid agencies, insurance and reinsurance companies, academics, policymakers and regulators.

About the Presenters:
List of presenters will be determined. The organisers of the conference will announce a call for proposals in March 2010.
