Description:
CreSud SpA is an Italian private investment company founded in 1999 by individual investors. Investors are individuals, non-bank financial institutions, cooperatives, credit unions, and NGOs, including CTMaltromercado, Microcredit Coop, World Shops, and CIPSI. CreSud SpA provides loans directly to microfinance institutions, which are retail micro-lenders. The company lends to MFIs in Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Samoa, and Togo. CreSud SpA also lends to associate producers which are companies in developing countries that produce a product. CreSud is a founding member of the European Micro Finance Platform, and of the Permanent Committee on MicroCredit for Italy.
