The European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), a product of the October 2005 Luxembourg Round Table on Microfinance, is a community of 35 microfinance institutions from 11 European countries. e-MFP cites a survey of 81 European actors in microfinance, which revealed a lack of shared knowledge and synergies, as a reason for its existence. Headed by a Secretariat and Provisional Steering Committee, the organizations mission is to promote innovative and inclusive financial sectors in developing countries. Its four Working Groups address innovation for deeper outreach, linking banks and MFIs, social performance of MFIs, and the role of research in microfinance.
