CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based, nonprofit policy and research center that aims to facilitate the expansion of financial access, has announced the opening of its annual photo contest to entries of original images that capture the “diversity and dynamism of microfinance and financial inclusion around the world”[1]. Participants may submit up to 20 images, and a panel of judges, which will include professional photographers and photo editors, will select first-, second- and third-place winners as well as regional and “Special Mention” winners based on “originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit”[1]. A “People’s Choice” award will be granted to the photo that earns the highest number of votes submitted by the public via CGAP’s website.
The prizes for the winning entries are gift certificates for photography equipment valued at USD 2,000 for first place, USD 500 for second place, USD 250 for third place, USD 250 for the winner of the “People’s Choice” award, USD 200 for each of the regional winners and four “Special Mentions”, and USD 50 for 12 to 15 finalists. The photographs of the first place winner will be displayed at Times Square, New York.
Submissions must be uploaded online before midnight eastern US time on September 9, 2015, with the form located at https://photocontest.cgap.org/users/login.
