Westpac Banking Corporation, a multinational financial services group based in Australia, reportedly has announced that approximately 4,700 Fijians attended its financial literacy workshops in December 2012. Westpac’s Financial First Steps workshop teaches money management, expenditure monitoring and budget maintenance. Westpac also offers a Business Basics workshop focusing on financial reports and balance sheets. The workshops are free, and participants receive a handbook on financial education. An approximate total of 11,300 Fijians attended Westpac’s workshops during 2012 [1].
Westpac provides retail, business and institutional banking services in 14 countries with a focus on Southeast Asia and Oceania. For the year 2012, Westpac reported total assets of AUD 675 billion (USD 694 billion) [2].
