Developpement international Desjardins (DID), the development subsidiary of Canadian cooperative institution Desjardins Group, recently disbursed a USD 500,000 loan to the Cambodia Community Savings Federation (CCSF), a financial cooperative network that serves approximately 30 financial institutions holding assets of USD 7 million in Cambodia. CCSF plans to use the three-year loan to support the growth of the financial cooperative sector in the country by increasing outreach to its members. Further details on the loan have not been released.
As of 2011, DID is assisting projects in approximately twenty nations in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and Central and Eastern Europe. As of the same date, DID reports total assets of CAD 29.2 million (USD 30 million), return on assets of 5.5 percent and return on equity of 7.27 percent.
