Emida, a company based in California that specializes in global prepaid and value transfer solutions, recently announced the integration of its Cash and TransactTM (CATTM) Mobile Wallet platform with its Debisys Top-Up platform, which will enable customers to load cash to their phones and make payments to retailers that support Emida systems. Customers will also be able to send money to other phones, pay bills, shop online and withdraw cash using their phones. CATTM offers reporting features that will allow regulators to monitor compliance with financial requirements.
CATTM was first launched in Nigeria and will be deployed to the other thirty-six countries where Emida systems have been established. The mobile wallet platform was designed with developing country markets and customers without bank accounts in mind. Emida services 46,000 retail points with approximately 180 million payment transactions a year totaling approximately USD 1.4 billion [1].
