Grameen Foundation, a US-based nonprofit, has launched a certificate program to recognize organizations that comply with new standards of use for its Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI), a tool developed by Grameen for tracking and reporting poverty data.
Microfinance institutions (MFIs) and other PPI users that successfully complete the certificate program receive a seal of approval confirming they are using the tool correctly. Certified MFIs will be recognized on the Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX), a source of financial and social performance data on MFIs.
The Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) is an assessment tool that is intended to help institutions measure outreach to the poor, monitor changes in economic well-being of clients and provide data to managers on the effectiveness of programs and services.
Additional information about the certification, including the application process, is available at http://www.progressoutofpoverty.org/certification.
