MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Grameen Foundation Partners with Sungard Global Services to Support Mifos Technology Platform

Grameen Foundation, a US-based nonprofit, recently announced it is partnering with SunGard, a global software and technology company, which will provide a dedicated team of technology and consulting professionals from its Global Services business unit to provide support to Grameen’s Mifos technology team and users. As reported by MicroCapital on November 16, 2007, Mifos is a free, open-source microfinance institution management software package.

Over the past three years, SunGard has collaborated with the Mifos team in developing countries as SunGard has built test environments, procedures and quality assurance to assess Mifos’ scalability as a portfolio management platform.
Launched in 2006, Mifos is a software platform for microfinance institutions that offers an online hosted service and a downloadable open source edition. Mifos is reportedly used by microfinance institutions in the Americas, Asia, Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa to serve 800,000 clients.
