The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) has recently released its first set of “Country Briefings” which provide information on microfinance institution (MFI) performance, funding structure and supply and demand. Currently available are briefings on the following countries: Morocco, Kenya, Cambodia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Peru. According to MIX, “the briefings will be updated regularly as new data become available, and a series of new Country Briefings will be released in the coming months” [1]. Established in 2002, Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Washington, DC, and regional offices in Peru, Senegal, India and Indonesia. It is a global, web-based, microfinance information platform. MIX provides detailed financial and social performance information from microfinance institutions (MFIs), as well as business information from market facilitators, donor organizations and investors in microfinance. MIX Market, one of MIX’s products, currently provides online data on 1800 MFIs and 100 investors. MIX was founded by CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) and is sponsored by Citi Foundation, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
