The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) has recently released a new version of the “2009 Africa Microfinance Analysis & Benchmarking Report” in French, which covers information on 195 African microfinance institutions (MFIs). According to MIX’s press release, the report demonstrates “key growth trends, major legal and regulatory changes, funding for microfinance, and performance of MFIs throughout the region. It also delves into the impact of the global financial and economic crisis, and various regional crises, on the four sub-regions of Sub-Saharan Africa.”
The conclusions of the report are that the MFIs showed stable performance and that the African microfinance sector was resilient to shocks during 2009.
