The Microinsurance Network, an organization based in Luxembourg that aims to promote the development of insurance products for low-income populations, has launched a Capacity Building Tools Inventory providing training modules and handbooks for microinsurance operations. The inventory contains a list of 28 tools addressing topics such as managing operations and performance, product development, client value and demand. All tools are available at no charge, relate to enhancing the capacity of microinsurance providers and target specific aspects of microinsurance operations. Users can search for tools by language, type, topic, target audience, type of microinsurance product and regional focus. New tools can also be requested or uploaded by users. Organizations that have contributed content to the inventory include the World Bank, a US-based organization that aims to improve living standards for people in the developing world; the Microinsurance Innovation Facility (MIF), which is housed in the United Nation’s International Labour Office; and CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based nonprofit policy and research center.
As of 2011, the Microinsurance Network reports 52 member organizations.
