MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Munich Re Foundation Calls for Proposals for 7th International Microinsurance Conference In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 8 – November 10, 2011

Munich Re Foundation, a German grant-making foundation, has issued a call for proposals for its seventh annual microinsurance conference, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 8 to November 10, 2011. The themes for proposals fall into three categories: “Scientific Track – Economic analysis of microinsurance markets”; “Case studies of innovative and viable client-centered microinsurance solutions”; and “Thematic issues” including distribution and demand, technology and natural disaster mitigation.

An estimated 500 participants and experts will gather to share experiences and discuss major issues in the global microinsurance sector. The conference will have plenary panel discussions as well as smaller interactive sessions that bring together academics, insurance professionals, regulators and others. The agenda and speaker list are not yet finalized. Registration for the conference begins on August 1, 2011.
