Nova Banka AD, a private bank in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reportedly approved a loan of BAM 3 million (USD 2.02 million) to Microcredit Foundation Prizma, a microfinance institution (MFI) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The funds are expected to expand Prizma’s operations in the country’s microfinance sector and increase Nova Banka’s exposure to Prizma to BAM 5 million (USD 3.37 million). The term of the loan has no been disclosed, but it has been described as “long-term” [1].
As of December 31, 2011, Prizma reported to the US-based nonprofit Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) total assets of USD 72.3 million, a gross loan portfolio of USD 64.4 million, return on assets (ROA) of 1.85 percent, return on equity (ROE) of 9.44 percent and 69,000 active borrowers. Nova Banka has total assets of approximately BAM 1 billion (USD 673 million) and operates in 50 branches across the country.

About Microcredit Foundation Prizma: Prizma is a microfinance institution (MFI) that provides credit products in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Prizma began operations in 1997 under the name “Project Enterprise” and was registered with the national microcredit registry in 2001 under the name Microcredit Organization Prizma. In conformance with the domestic law on microcredit organizations, the organization took on its current name, microcredit foundation Prizma.
