Ugafode Microfinance, a Ugandan microfinance institution (MFI), reportedly has received a license from the Bank of Uganda to act as a Microfinance Deposit-Taking Institution (MDI). As an MDI, Ugafode can accept deposits from non-borrowers.
As of December 2010, Ugafode reported to the US-based nonprofit Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) that it has total assets of USD 2.81 million, a gross loan portfolio of USD 3.4 million, 6,246 active borrowers, deposits of USD 39,213, 13,213 depositors, return on assets of 8.11 percent and return on equity of 17.97 percent.
