Women Advancing Microfinance – New York (WAM-NY), a US-based organization that supports women working in microfinance, has announced that it is offering scholarships for selected women to attend training programs to strengthen their skills and access leadership opportunities. Candidates must be women that have the following characteristics:
-Currently work for a microfinance institution (MFI)
-Have at least three years of experience working in the microfinance sector and a minimum of one year with her current employer
-Have some level of management responsibility within her MFI
-Have the language skills necessary for the program of interest
-Willingness to submit a post-training report to WAM-NY about her experience.
Preference will be given to women holding mid-management positions and to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants should select a program from a pre-approved list provided by WAM-NY or suggest a program of their choice. Applications must include a resume and should be received no later than April 15, 2012.
