CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a US-based nonprofit, recently announced that Yavuz Sariyildiz of Turkey has won 2012 Photography Contest, which comes with a USD 2,000 gift certificate for photography equipment and accessories. His photo, “Smoke of Charcoal,” was chosen from 28 finalists and a total of 2,500 entries from professional and non-professional photographers from approximately 80 countries. After 25 years in the banking industry, Yavuz Sariyildiz became a freelance photographer in 2009, often creating documentaries for small and medium-sized enterprises. The panel of judges included: Anne Farrar, Photo Editor at The Washington Post; Chris Combs, Photo Editor at National Geographic; Suzanne Lemakis, Director of Fine Art at Citigroup; Susan Sterner, Director of New Media Photojournalism at the Corcoran School of Art and Design. All are based in the US.

As of June 2011, CGAP reported total revenue of USD 29.5 million and total assets of USD 24.2 million.
