Summary of Event: This online conference will discuss the sustainability of enterprise development programs around the world. A key component is the review of case studies.
Background on Organizer: The Enterprise Development Exchange, an online community promoting the learning and sharing of information on enterprise development, was created by the Value Initiative, a program of the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network. SEEP, founded in 1985, facilitates standardization of practices and exchange of information between microentrepreneurs around the world.
Event Themes and Discussion Topics: The conference will include general discussion of enterprise development as well as case studies including the following:
- LabourNet (India), an enterprise that insures healthcare and links informal workers including plumbers and construction workers with jobs
- SDCAsia (Philippines), an enterprise focused on sustainable fishing
- ECDI (Pakistan), an enterprise that links low income embroiderers with the commercial market
- Katalyst (Bangladesh), an SME promotion project that focuses on manufacturing as well as the agriculture sector
- Cadbury (Ghana), a unit of the multinational confectionary company
- Land o’ Lakes (Honduras), a unit of the multinational dairy company
- SELCO (India), a social enterprise specializing in sustainable energy
