Event Summary: This Global Policy Forum (GPF) is an annual event that is co-hosted by the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and the financial regulator of a member country of AFI. For 2014, the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago serves as co-host of the event. GPF will include discussions of national strategies and policies on financial inclusion with the aim of promoting the development and improvement of policy in this area.
Background on Organizers: AFI is a Thailand-based network of financial policymakers and regulators from developing and emerging economies that aims to increase access to financial services for poor people. AFI uses a “peer-to-peer” model that enables member institutions to share knowledge and identify policy solutions best suited for their home countries. AFI also provides grants to members to help support policy implementation. As of 2014, AFI has 117 member institutions representing approximately 90 nations.
