Cost: Regular admission to the event costs EUR 350 (USD 476) with a rate of EUR 300 (USD 408) available for members of the Association of Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI). Registrations completed prior to April 13, 2014, are eligible for a discount of EUR 50 (USD 68).
Summary of Event: The theme of the conference is “Is a good project also a good investment?” Topics that will be discussed include: the factors that make microfinance and impact investments attractive for investors, the operational requirements for successful investing in projects that aim to have a positive social impact, and best practices in deal structuring for impact investments.
Background on Organizers: ALFI, created in 1988, is a nonprofit association of 1,165 investment funds and 284 service providers in Luxembourg. ALFI’s main objectives are to help its members capitalize on industry trends; shape regulation; promote the Luxembourg investment fund industry; and encourage professionalism, integrity and quality. ALFI is governed by a board of directors that consists of 24 members elected by the association. Membership in ALFI is open to investment funds and investment-fund service providers that are registered to operate in Luxembourg.
The Luxembourg Fund Labeling Agency (LuxFLAG) was established in 2006 to evaluate the activities of microfinance investment vehicles (MIVs), and in 2011 it expanded its mission to include environment-related investment vehicles (EIVs). LuxFLAG’s aim is to “promote the raising of capital for Microfinance and Environment related sectors by awarding a recognizable label to eligible microfinance investment vehicles (MIVs) and environment-related investment vehicles (EIVs).” Its objective is to reassure investors that each labeled MIV and EIV actually invests, directly or indirectly, in the microfinance or environment sector, respectively.
