This is the second conference in a three-part series organized by the Microfinance Council of the Philippines (MCPI) that aims to generate dialogue and new ideas on more effective ways to address poverty. The first conference in the series, which was held in Cebu City in November 2009 and was organized in partnership with the Visayas Microfinance Council – a network of 16 MFIs from the island of Visayas – addressed the need for a broader approach in the microfinance industry. The third conference in the series, which is expected in November 2010, will be a “global symposium” organized in partnership with Luzon Microfinance Networks – a network of MFIs from the island of Luzon.
