Event Name: 5th International Conference on the Institutional and Technological Environment for Microfinance (ITEM5)

Cost: The registration fee to attend all conference events is EUR 250 (USD 342) with a rate of EUR 50 (USD 68) available for students. A late-registration fee of 20 percent will be added for registrations completed after February 1, 2014.
Summary of Event: The theme of the conference is “Microfinance – Fighting Back.” The event aims to explore the institutional, technological and social opportunities and challenges that the microfinance industry faces as it matures into a more commonly accepted asset class. The topics to be discussed include: microfinance products, business strategy, cost control issues, the use of innovation and technology, and building social capital. The summit will include several keynote speeches and panel discussions, as well as a field visit to Attawfiq Micro-Finance Banque Populaire Microfinance Foundation, a microfinance institution based in Morocco.
Background on Organizer: This event is jointly organized by the Burgundy School of Business, the Institut Supérieur de Commerce et d’Administration des Entreprises (ISCAE) and Attawfiq Micro-Finance. The Burgundy School of Business is part of the French academic institution Ecole Supérieur de Commerce de Dijon Bourgogne; ISCAE is a business school in Morocco that was founded in 1971; and Attawfiq Micro-Finance is an institution offering microfinance services as well as business and literacy training.
