As part of London Climate Action Week, this event is focused on investment that helps companies adapt to and mitigate climate change. Session titles include: (1) Short-term Pathways to Finance the Net-zero Energy Transition: The “No Nonsense” Way; (2) Investing in Energy Infrastructure: Achieving the Clean Energy Transition at Affordable Costs; (3) Boosting Climate Resilience with Natural Capital and Investing in Nature-based Solutions; (4) Listed Equities: Decarbonisation and Divestment for a 1.5°C Future; and (5) Emerging Markets and Developing Economies: Managing Risks to Accelerate Energy Infrastructure Investments. The event will be hosted by the London Stock Exchange.
Background on Organizer: The World Climate Foundation is a Denmark-based NGO that works with governments and the private sector to foster an “economic transition to a net-zero, nature-positive and healthy planet through cross-sector dialogue, innovative partnerships and investments in sustainable solutions” in keeping with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the New Global Biodiversity Framework.
The Climate Investment Coalition is a public-private partnership founded by the World Climate Foundation, along with the government of Denmark, Insurance & Pension Denmark, and the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change. Its goal is to mobilize “financial investments towards clean energy and climate solutions now and in the coming decade.” During 2021, the entity facilitated commitments totaling USD 13 billion from various European pension funds.
