This year’s summit of the US-based NGO Concordia is intended to further the organization’s mission of confronting “the world’s most pressing challenges through the lens of public-private sector collaboration.” The event is timed to coincide with the UN SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Summit held on September 18 and September 19, also in New York City.
Concordia’s event schedule includes an array of topics relating to improving health outcomes as well as (1) Unlocking the Potential of Human Mobility through Public-private Partnerships, (2) The Future of Institutional Trust (and its Impact on Society); (3) Long-term Resilience Across the Supply Chain; and (4) Practicalities of Partnership Building. Among the speakers are Josef Abramowitz, CEO of Gigawatt Global; Dr Tom Achoki, Senior Director of Strategy and Impact at AB InBev Foundation; The Honorable Eric Adams, the Mayor of the City of New York; and Lauri Adams, CEO of Women for Women International.
Background on the Organizer: Concordia was founded by Nick Logothetis and Matthew Swift in 2011 – the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks against the US – to promote the role of partnerships in reducing extremism. The organization supports public-private partnerships and cross-sector collaboration to address societal challenges, such as the need to invest in women’s entrepreneurship, improve medical infrastructure, and leverage technology to meet development needs. In addition to this summit, which has a global scope, the NGO hosts events focused on various regions, such as Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
Cost: The admission fee is USD 800, although this is waived for members of Concordia.
