Summary of Event: Alitheia Capital, DARC, JCS Investments and Goodwell Investments have, with the support of First Bank, performed an in-depth study of the potential of the microfinance market in Anglophone West Africa. The event will feature a presentation of the study results as well as an introduction to a new microfinance equity fund to be launched this year. Prominent speakers from the regional and international microfinance community will participate in a panel discussion and answer questions from the floor.

Background on Organizer: Alitheia Capital is an investment manager and advisor based in Lagos, Nigeria, whose mission is to broaden the ownership of businesses and real estate. Alitheia creates investment structures, provides project management and incubates businesses. Goodwell Investments is a for-profit business development company that invests in entrepreneurial microfinance organizations on a socially and commercially sustainable basis.

It recounts the historical backdrop of the local industry and provides detailed estimates of current demand and supply scenarios. The performance of an MFI sample is discussed against regional and international benchmarks, as are the resulting barriers and opportunities for investors.
