Event Summary: The European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP), a Luxembourg-based network of approximately 130 microfinance organizations and individuals, is hosting its annual European Microfinance Week, which will feature two plenaries: one on financial inclusion and market stability and the other on researching microfinance practice. This will be preceded on the first day of the proceedings by meetings of e-MFP’s eight action groups. The second day of the event will include the presentation of the “5th European Microfinance Award,” which includes a prize of EUR 100,000 (USD 132,000), for excellence in “Microfinance and the Environment.” Additional sessions will cover post-disaster financial services and socially responsible investing. MicroCapital will provide sponsored, onsite coverage of the key sessions as it did in 2012 and 2013.
