MICROFINANCE EVENT: European Microfinance Week; November 16-18, 2022; Luxembourg

This annual event is organized with the goal of facilitating networking among various members of the inclusive finance sector. The event program – some of which can be accessed virtually – includes meetings of some of the European Microfinance Platform’s (e-MFP’s) Action Groups as well as sessions such as: (1) Financial Inclusion of Refugees: Findings from Research and Pilot Programmes; (2) How Green Inclusive Finance Fosters Women’s Empowerment Through Energy Access; (3) Gender Diversity and Leadership in Financial Inclusion; (4) Inclusive Insurance – Technology-based Innovations to Scale Up Inclusive Agriculture and Climate Risk; (5) Fintechs [Financial Technology Firms] vs MFIs [Microfinance Institutions]: Who Will Win the Race to Digitize MSE [Micro- and Small Enterprise] Finance?; and (6) Innovative Solutions for Financing Young Entrepreneurs.

On November 17, the organizers will present the EUR 100,000 (USD 98,000) European Microfinance Award, themed “Financial Inclusion that Works for Women.”

Background on Host: Founded in 2006, Luxembourg-based e-MFP is a network of approximately 130 microfinance organizations and individuals that promotes cooperation among European microfinance actors working in developing countries. The network’s members include financial institutions, NGOs, government agencies, consultancies, researchers and universities.

Cost: The standard fee to attend the event is EUR 625 (USD 617). Participants from the Global South and students are offered a reduced rate of EUR 100 (USD 98). Members of e-MFP and groups with more than five delegates qualify for a rate of EUR 525 (USD 518). The cost to attend a single day is EUR 350 (USD 343). Admission to the virtual portion of the event is available for EUR 200 (USD 196).
