Cost: The standard fee to attend the event is EUR 250 (USD 333). The fee for students is EUR 50 (USD 67), and there is no fee for members of French microfinance associations. Payments made March 1, 2013, or later will incur a late-registration fee of 20 percent.

Event Summary: The Fourth International Conference on Institutional and Technological Environment for Microfinance (ITEM4) is aimed at academics and practitioners with discussions focusing on the lessons that can be learned with regards to financial inclusion measures from both developed and developing countries. Submissions of papers intended for publication will also be presented at the conference. ITEM4 is a bilingual event with parallel sessions taking place in English and French. The keynote speaker is Dr. Jean-Michel Servet, professor of development studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (also known by the French language acronym IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Background on Organizers: The conference is being organized by Banque Populaire’s Chair in Microfinance at the Burgundy School of Business, which is located in Dijon, France, and is part of the Groupe École Supérieure de Commerce (ESC), a network of French business schools. Banque Populaire is a group of French cooperative banks and the current holder of the Chair is Professor Arvind Ashta.
