Discussion Topics: The International Labour Organization’s (ILO’s) Microinsurance Innovation Facility and the Microinsurance Network are organizing this online event focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of various distribution models for microinsurance as well as possible imporvements to existing microinsurance schemes that may make them more efficient from the perspective of both the insurer and client. This webinar will also discuss a recent paper on alternative distribution channels prepared by the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (CENFRI), a nonprofit think tank based in Cape Town, South Africa. The presenters are Brandon Mathews from Swiss insurer Zurich Financial Services, Anja Smith from CENFRI and Pranav Prashad from the Microinsurance Innovation Facility, who will present case studies from Latin America and India.

About the Microinsurance Network: Originally established in 2002 as the CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) Working Group on Microinsurance, the Microinsurance Network was spun off as an independent organization in 2009. Based in Luxembourg, the memebership organization aims to promote the development of insurance products for low-income populations by providing a platform for information sharing and stakeholder coordination. As of 2011, it reports 52 member organizations.
