Cost: The registration fee for the conference is USD 675 per person if payment is received on or before June 29, 2012. The registration fee is USD 695 if payment is received between June 30, 2012 and September 3, 2012. Presenters may register for USD 595.

Summary of Event: The purpose of this conference is to share promising practices for increasing youth economic opportunities, to form partnerships and for participants to gain technical knowledge in approaches to counter youth unemployment. Over the past five years, approximately 400 professionals from 60 countries have attended the Making Cents’ Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference. Past participants of the conference reportedly have benefited from: invitations to submit funding proposals, new technical capacities, new partnerships and revamped programs and policy ideas.

Background on Organizer: Making Cents International (MCI), a social enterprise based in Washington, DC, is the organizer for the Global Youth Economic Opportunities Conference. MCI provides: (1) entrepreneurs with technical training and curricula that enable them to participate in profitable markets; (2) financial institutions with new populations to serve; and (3) individuals with the opportunity to obtain meaningful work. MCI reports having collaborated with 4,000 organizations in 50 countries since it was founded in 1999.

About the Presenters: While the presenter list has not yet been released, MCI envisions that the conference agenda will include the following learning tracks: (1) workforce development; (2) financial services and capabilities; (3) enterprise development; (4) adolescent girls and young women, and (5) monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment.
