Summary of event:  The two day event will be drawing on the experience of MMT community (MNOs, banks, MTNs, regulators, technology developers, MFIs, government, NGOs and individuals) who have launched and marketed MMT programs to millions of customers.  Dialogue will consist of small group conversations with leaders behind mass market MMT programs serving millions of consumers:  Identify opportunities; meet the regulators and prospective partners (via market specific roundtables) for one’s business in key developed and developing markets; Technology partner selection due diligence to provide better understanding of the technical architecture behind MMT: the key differentiators between mWallets and processors.  With few conventional case study presentations and analysis for context, the majority of the program will consist of panels and small round table sessions highlighting practical challenges and possible mass market solutions.

For those new to MMT, the half day workshops explains how the money transfer business works, the current state of mobile money, where it is already working, and where the short and long term opportunities are for ones respective industry.  The workshop also has an introduction to mobile payments for practitioners learning about this new channel for personal finance.  It also explains the value chain and ecosystem for MMT – who does what and who you need to partner with in order to launch an MMT service.
