MICROFINANCE EVENT: Opportunity Collaboration; October 14 - 19, 2018; Cancun, Mexico

Event Summary: The purpose of this event is to provide networking and problem-solving opportunities for those “dedicated to building sustainable solutions to poverty and injustice.” Most sessions are categorized as Conversations for Change, Capacity-Building Clinics or mealtime “Cluster-Forks.” Although the 2018 agenda has not been published yet, the 2017 agenda included topics such as Regenerative Agriculture: Developing Resilient Food Systems, Leveling The Playing Field for Low-Income Women Entrepreneurs and Bridging the Skills Gap in Africa.

Background on Organizer: Opportunity Collaboration is a US-based organization that stages two annual summits, one each in Mexico and the US. Both are opportunities for delegates to network, discuss strategies and pool resources for reducing poverty. The event in Mexico is held each October to coincide with World Poverty Day.

Cost: The registration fees are USD 4,950 including private hotel accommodations or USD 2,950 per person to share a suite. Until July 31, a rate of USD 3,950 applies to private-room registrations.
