Event Summary: The Skoll World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship is intended to foster the development of partnerships to find entrepreneurial solutions to social problems.
Organizers: The Skoll Foundation was established in 1999 with the aim of supporting peace and prosperity around the world by investing in “social enterprises.” It defines social entrepreneurs as “society’s change agents, creators of innovations that disrupt the status quo and transform our world for the better”[2]. Since its creation it has awarded USD 25.8 million in grants.
The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship was founded in 2003. It is housed at the Said Business School of the UK-based University of Oxford. The center aims to advance social entrepreneurship through education, research and collaboration. It is led by Dr. Pamela Hartigan as of 2009.
