The goal of this event is to champion the use of social enterprise as a catalyst for positive change worldwide. The topics to be discussed include: (1) The Role of Corporates in Social Enterprise Partnerships; and (2) Migration: Entrepreneurial Solutions for Better Lives and Livelihoods. In addition to the two-day conference, there will be tours of small businesses on October 9 and 13. October 10 is a “Fringe Day,” focused on social change and entrepreneurship, especially as it can benefit the youth of Amsterdam.
Background on Organizers: The Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) is an NGO founded in 2008 in Scotland. It supports the use of business principles to address social and environmental issues. The NGO fosters collaboration and has hosted events in countries such as Brazil, Ethiopia, Korea, New Zealand and the US. SEWF is engaged with social enterprises in 130 countries.
Amsterdam-Impact is an initiative of the government of the Netherlands that was founded in 2015 and promotes entrepreneurial efforts in Amsterdam that are intended to generate social and financial benefits. The organization’s goal is to create innovative solutions for owners of small businesses via collaborations among companies new and old, large and small – as well as funders, government entities, networking organizations and educational institutions.
Social Enterprise NL, an NGO founded in 2012 in the Netherlands, offers business support, advocates for a favorable business environment, and seeks to inspire social and entrepreneurial action. The organization comprises 390 members across 16 sectors, including catering, technology and manufacturing. These members seek to make a positive impact in areas such as creating circular economies and expanding the use of renewable energy.
Cost: The fee to attend in person is EUR 346 (USD 370), and digital passes are available for EUR 36 (USD 38). Additional fees apply for the associated events on October 9, October 10 and October 13.
