PRESS RELEASE: Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) Releases Latest Issue of MicroBanking Bulletin

WASHINGTON, May 21 – Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) announced the release of the latest issue of the MicroBanking Bulletin (MBB). This 16th edition of the MicroBanking Bulletin features trend lines based on performance data from a panel of 340 MFIs [microfinance institutions] in 68 countries from 2004 through 2006, a critical time of rapid growth and transformation for the industry.

Articles include “Economic Exposure of Microfinance Institutions,” an analysis of foreign exchange risk for MFIs; “Competing Business Models and the Microfinance Double Bottom Line,” by Marc de Sousa Shields; and a summary by David Lascelles of the Microfinance Banana Skins survey that was recently conducted under the sponsorship of CGAP [the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor] and Citi.

Printed versions of the MBB 16 will be available May 30, and can be purchased at www.mixmbb.org [the electronic version is free of charge].
