PRESS RELEASE: 2007 Global Microfinance Institution Benchmarks Now Available

The Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) has released MFI Benchmarks from calendar year 2007, available at www.themix.org. The global benchmarks, released annually by MIX, are a compilation of performance and financial data from microfinance institutions throughout the developing world. This year’s benchmarks use data from a record 890 MFIs from 94 countries, representing the largest data set ever. Included for the first time are MFIs from Iraq, Burundi, Gambia, Guinea, Laos, Thailand and Turkey.

The 2007 MFI Benchmarks cover a total of 64 million borrowers and USD 36 billion in loans, with 34 million savers and USD 15 billion in deposits. The benchmarks, along with analysis, will be published in The MicroBanking Bulletin, #17, produced by MIX and available November 2008.
